Teaching allowance-whether taxable?

Recently I got transferred from field Office to a Central Government training Institute ,where besides salary I am getting a teaching allowance. I am not sure whether the teaching allowance should be offered to tax or the same is exempt under the Income tax.

It is not exempt.  Only those allowances are exempt as are found in Section 10(14).

"Provided that nothing in sub- clause (ii) shall apply to any allowance in the nature of personal allowance granted to the assessee to remunerate or compensate him for performing duties of a special nature relating to his office or employment unless such allowance is related to the place of his posting or residence"

The above is an extract from Section 10(14).  Teaching allowance is not exempt as you can see.
