Tds on rent along with the service tax break up

Since you are payer, your resposibility is to deduct TDS only. To pay service tax to Govt. is the responsibility of Landlord, not yours.

As per this thread.. The landlord is liable to Collect the Service Tax from the Tenants. So had this doubt to be cleared as he has registered himself for Service Tax and is asking for the Service Tax. Please clearify the same.

If the total taxable turnover of the landlord in the preceeding financial year (2010-11) was less than 10 lacs, landlord is exempted from charging service tax in the current financial year (2011-12) even if it exceeds 10 lakhs in current financial year.
