tander date in etds returns

TDS 1174 views 3 replies

What should be the tender date is to be filled in the etds return if there is difference. Say  tender date as per challan is 6-1-2008 but is was mentioned by the bank wrongly in the OLTS (challan information as per NSDL site) is 9-1-08.

if we put the 9-1-08 in tds return then it is ok as per challan detail will be booked by them. But it will cause late payment of the same which is not true.

pl. help.

u can put the date of deposit of challan into bank, the wrong date is clerical mistake but bank was made entry in right date.

dear sir,

first you have to mention the date as per challan issued by the bank in your return...and ask your bankers for  rectify the same in oltas (NSDL) or obtain the letter from the bankers for making a clerical mistake...because it will help to answer the i.t dept about inconsistency in TDS returns.

initially u have to file the etds return by using the date as 06-01-08(the date as in the challan) .But the it will take 6-8 months for the Directorate of Income -systems to sctrutnize the returns. After wards you will receive a notice from the dept stating the mistake ie (challan mismatch pending),at that time you can rectify the mistake. In the notice itself you have the choice to reply ie whether its a bank or our mistake.
