Hi friends,

I have filled a ST3 return online using offline excel utility, however it is rejected for below resaons

Return has been rejected for the following errors :

The Financial Year and Period of Return selected in Upload Screen (2014-2015, April-September) does not match with the Financial Year and Period of Return entered in the XML file (2013-2014, April-September)

I have checked this and it was my mistake , so I amended it .I also called this as revised return as I am trying to correct a mistake. When I try to save return I am getting below error.

Please correct the following errors :

You can not file Revised Return without filing the Original Return.

Can anyone please advice if I am not right to take this as a revised return?

Also, this is the first return, so do i need to do anyting else other than filling it online?

Service tax return filing process gets completed when the status is shown as ‘Filed’ in the ACES. This indicates that the return has been accepted by the system.

If someone wants to change the data in the return hereafter, then it will be called as a revised return.

But in your case, the return was ‘Rejected’ by the system and was not processed further. The error should be corrected and the reutrn shall be uploaded again.

The ST3 form will still be considered an original return, as it was not accepted by the server in the earlier attempt. Since, the processing of original return was not completed, so there is no question of revised return.

Hence, correct the error, upload it as original return, it will get accepted.
