I think Gayathri Ram is correct.

We don't know the house no. Then How the sentence " The sum of the ages equals the no. of our house"

will help us to arrive the Answer. It doesn't mean that the sum of the ages equals the House No. twice. As per Maheswari Mam's reply, the house no. is 13.  Why don't the House No. is 11 or any other.

Only in case of sum 13 another hint was necessary. But there is an
oldest child only if the family has two years old twins and a six years
old child.

DEAR FRIEND,

AFTER KNOWING THE HOUSE NO THE PERSON SHOULD NOT HAVE CONFUSION. HE IS CONFUSED BECAUSE HOUSE NO IS 13 AND SUM OF BOTH 9+2+2=13 &  6+6+1=13.

THATS WHY HE HAD CONFUSION AFTER GETTING HINT THAT HE HAS AN ELDEST SON. HE KNEW ANSWER IS 9,2 & 2 BCOZ 6,6,1 HAVE TWO SON AGED 6 AND NO BODY IS ELDEST.

IF I HAD TOLD YOU HOUSE NO IS 13 THE WHAT YOUR REPLY WOULD HAVE BEEN. YOU WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ARRIVE AT A DECISION AS 6+6+1 & 9+2+2 BOTS HAVE SUM 13.

IS IT CLEAR NOW?????????????

HAD IT BEEN 14 HE WOULD HAVE NOT ASKED FOR ANOTHER CLUE.......

AS SUM 14 COMES ONLY ONCE IN GIVEN EQUATION I.E.

9*4*1=36 & 9+4+1=14

ANY MORE QUERY??????

I am not convinced Sanjay,I think there can be two options 2,2,9 and 2,3,6......as per me Piono can be played by even the 6 year old kid.

YOU ARE NOT TAKING THE POINT CORRECTLY.

2+3+6=11 NOT 13

THE HINT WAS SIMPLY TO CONVEY THAT HE HAS AN ELDEST SON........
