We shd not lose focus till ammendments are duly passed. The individual members shd if possible contact their known cc/rc members/p/vp/ex P/pd/other stalwart members also -to request them to formally and effectively raise our demand this time -for simultaneous removal of colonial 'chartered' from icai name - when "management' word can not be added to our name.

Great courage shown by the council.

This is a great move of Solidarity. I salute the Chapter heads, RC members and CC members who have forwarded their resignation to the President. I salute such members who have already done it and who are likely to follow suit. Also the PRESIDENT of our Institute must tender his resignation to Smt Sonia Gandhi the Chairperson of UPA. All our RC members and CC members and Chapter Chairman must under the leadership of our PRESIDENT MEET SMT SONIA GANDHI and Tender their resignation.

The Council Members have reacted in the wisest manner. If we donot condemn and protest this injustice this way, our professional careers would for sure be ruined.

Why doesnt ICAI object to CIMA opening its shop in India

When members of ICWAI already perform the roles of Management Accountants in most organisations they serve and when members of ICWAI are competent Management Accounting Professionals why should we not be named so?

When ICAI has not left even a single exclusive zone of Cost Accountants uninfringed, the most recent example being the encroachment of 14A and 14AA what is wrong even if Management Accounting were to be a non exclusive zone. Though Management Accounting is a completely exclusive domain of Cost Accountants.

An aggressive response, appreciated, we must guard aganist the tendency to make a hard hitting protest for a day or 2 and then going back to status co. we need sustained efforts. supreme court seems to be the best option. no point trying to reason with this govt, they will not listen to anyone other than the supreme court. take it to the highest court and fight a pitched battle. 

severe all ties with ICAI. this is all out war no less.

Let's also do road shows/TV shows/news paper coloumns to drive home the point that we need a competing accounting body to keep the monopolistic attitude of ICAI under check. the power of monopoly has got to them. as they say absolute power corrupts absolutely. they are out to ruin other institutes at all costs.

Most important let's stand united and keep the fire burning.

Well said Girish. We should keep the fire burning. ICWAI must file a writ in SC seeking remedy for denying Cost Accountants Constitutional Human Rights of professing the profession that they are capable of. 

ICAI's stumbling block in each sphere of practice for a Cost Accountant and its resultant denial of legitimate practice opportunities is denial of the right that is guaranteed under Article 19 (1)( g).

Without "chartered" CAs need be just named 'Accountants' or 'Registered Accountants' at par with 'Accountants' of various accounts services of Gvt./Public sector etc etc. We must therefore first of all fully concentrate on removal of this exclusive colonial usage by ICAI which gives them their undeserved halo in the field of Accountancy . Let them prove their core competencies in a level playing field vis a vis other statutory breeds of Accountants.

I support the deletion of word Chartered inspite of being a CA. There is no linkage to what a CA does to Chartered. Financial Accountant is more suitable. I believe since they changed name of our institute to ICAI, they are actually thinking of renaming existing ICAI to IFAI!
