Dear Sir,

I m starting sole proprietorship business of tours and travels. presently i alone will be operating a business. Do i need to apply for or pay professional tax? please advise me rules of professional tax.

Please mention  place of ur business & state because professinal tax is state levied tax

What are the rates at which tax is to be deducted.

 

Tax rate varies depending upon monthly salary/ wage of an employee. The rates of tax are-

      Slab(Rs.)         Rate of Tax (per month)  

  1. less than 3000       Zero
  2. 3000 to 5999         Rs. 20
  3. 6000 to 8999         Rs. 80
  4. 9000 to11999        Rs. 150
  5. 12000 or more       Rs. 200 maximum

 

 

 

Is there any threshold minimum number of employees prescribed for liability under the Act?

 

No. Even if an employer has employed one employee, he is liable under this Act.

AS I AM STAYING IN MAHARASHTRA, SO WHAT IS THE PROFESSION TAX?

IS PROFESISON TAX APPLICABLE IN MAHARASHTRA ?

go to the internet portal of relevant state you will get details correctly pls. today you have websites of every tax authority of every state make use  of it, profesinal advice on such elementary things need not be taken as there are websites proptly answer and correctly pls!

Rs.8001 Rs. 8,001 or more, but less than Rs.9,001 Rs.9001
Rs.9001 Rs. 9,001 or more, but less than Rs.15,001 Rs.15001
Rs.15001 Rs. 15,001 or more, but less than Rs.25,001 Rs.25001
