I work for a company which has no medical reimbursement as a component.
I would like to avail preventive health check up for Rs 5000/- as allowed under sec 80D but at the same time if I do not take a medicalim policy, will I get the exemption on Rs 5000/-
In case my company has medical reimbursement policy let me know whether this claim can be submitted as medical expenditure

Yes, you can claim this u/s 80D even you have not taken any medical insurance policy.
You can not claim it as medical reimbursement from employer, only expense incurred purely for medical treatment is allowed here. Expense incurred in the nature of precautionary check ups wont be allowed as tax free perks u/s 17.
