Online Mode Efiling New Portal - Errors noted

ITR 1303 views 36 replies

EFiling ITR2 on new tax portal, online mode, I have faced numerous errors in last 15-20 days.

Below is a consolidated list of errors faced till date.

1) Rounding of incomes

On a regular basis, the inside calculations and rounding of numbers is changing. There is no universal rounding of numbers being done for incomes. Sometimes the rounding is done to nearest lower rupee and sometimes its done to nearest upper rupee. This is leading to calculation errors in the Online Mode.

Eg Incomes under LTCG Schedule 112A, Schedule CG, Quarterly Accrual Table, CYLA, BFLA, TTI are not having universal rounding system of income, resulting in one rupee errors which cannot be corrected.

2) Bank Account validations at the time of submission of return

Many bank accounts are not getting validated. Eg Saraswat bank account inspite of being having same email ID and same mobile number, the validation fails. Other cooperative bank accounts not getting validated.

Bank accounts that are not validated cannot be removed from the tax return. Else the return filed will not be as per compliance rules that requires declaring all bank active / dormant bank accounts.

3) Return defaults to foreign assets as Yes

Return is defaulting to foreign assets as Yes for no reason. Very dangerous.

It should default to No

4) Schedule 112A errors

Earlier Schedule 112A worked correct. Now from today onwards some errors are noted.

1) If dropdown is selected before 31st Jan 2018, then Full Value of Consideration is allowing decimal number

2) If dropdown is selected After 31st Jan 2018, then Full Value of Consideration is NOT allowing decimal number

5) Income tax calculation huge errors

Six or seven days ago, the income tax getting calculated was wrong as per new tax system. That part is I think corrected now but may reappear again.

6) In Profile cannot add income from other sources

Go to the Profile. Try adding Income from Others Sources from dropdown and press Add. Nothing works.

These are the known errors. Unknown errors are not known. There is no clarity whether all of the above will get resolved or not resolved before 29th Sep 2021. There is no proper resolution mechanism. Six grievances opened and no clarity from Income tax department. Software errors coming from ICAI are only being welcomed and errors reported by general public are being ignored.

In my view Income tax department executives and personnel are not performing any software testing. They are just releasing new new fix versions on the utility. Even the Infosys technical team lacks expertise on testing and they have no idea. When they fix three errors, they add one more error. That error is

India and its taxation system is moving into a very dangerous zone. By not allowing excel sheet utilities, Indian tax model is playing with the lives of 9 crore persons who are to use this new portal. And add to that taxpayers paying Rs 1700 crore to Infosys is going to cost the nation heavy. No one uses JSON online utilities and there are better performing ones.

Use of JSON is a step in the right direction as one should not be dependent on payment software for filing ITR.
As regards software ,we are in a world of compromises as earlier to get first grade in any Board was an achievement, but these days everyone has 99%! Today, people don't know the difference between diploma, B.Tech computer science degree and B.E. computer engineering degree! In such a scenario how does one expect what you desire?
With monetary consideration s ruling prime one has to be prepared for experiences like what everyone is facing now.To top it one has to be careful of the choice of words when one expresses truth for "fair is foul and foul is fair" has acquired a dimension that goes beyond what William perceived in his times!

But allowing a software major firm like Infosys to walk away with Rs 1700 crore taxpayer money for a faulty poor performing portal and a software that has dozens of errors -- it is not patriotism and not the right step in right direction? It is highly questionable in democracy model that how can Infosys get away so easily for releasing such poor quality web portal that has performance issues, software validation issues and very poor quality testing?

And how about the own Income tax department not doing any acceptance testing for the software releases Infosys is doing? How do people treat such inefficient bureaucracy that is paid 7th commission salaries? Almost all sets of errors that Infosys is resolving since 9th June 2021 are being fed by external parties, whereas in reality the Income tax department should have caught these errors.

Out of 1.3 billion citizens only person to voice is you!Who will redress,in case the contention is just?

The new portal should have been introduced while running the old portal parallely. Then only based on feedback from users the bugs/errors in New portal can be rectified without affecting filing of returns. It will take minimum one year to stabilise and the timing of migration to new portal is wrong.

I have been filing on my own all these years but never suffered with so much anxiety ever before. Preview download and data entered don't match for resident status and HUF is ticked. It is nightmare.

By reading some disgusting replies and comments from some members that out of 1.3 billion citizens only I am facing problems and no one is there to listen, I feel that such people do not feel anything and could be having fun due to errorneous software.

Right from beginning I have mentioned it is not question of 1.3 billion people at all, it is question of 9 crore people who will login and use this new portal. The nation has almost 80 crore people who do not know that there was a new portal launched on 7th June, who created the new portal and for what cost.

It is sad to see some disgusting comments.

Some are also trying to justify the removal of excel sheets saying that excel sheets cost license and online JSON is far better. And they are also trying to teach that compromises are better to go for.

Going by such comments, I feel that some people are having the following impression:

Income tax department is not at fault.

Elected representatives who passed on such law for creating new portal are not at fault.

The software vendor who developed such poor quality software is not at fault.

Vowww!

I am finding it extremely difficult to file this year. yesterday, my Pan and Aadhar link went missing and today my DOB has been changed to 12 digit negative figure. When I tried to reach help desk, call did not go through because of mismatch between PAN and DOB Wrote a mail for resolution.
One can understand how one feels if one is wronged in ways unexplained. Juhi also felt strongly about being treated the way she was and posted a response video on s media. Many might have seen . It's an eye opener for the ways of the present world we live in!
"Fair is foul and foul is fair" as William perceived has metamorphosed into what we experience these days.
Kagaz unka, kalam unki, kaun rokega unko? All one is requesting is that please bear the choice of words used !
If sense of right or wrong deviates from what one perceives in a capitalist ministrations and redressal not on expected lines what option does an ordinary man have?
I sincerely apologise if you tend to disagree. Are we moving to a situation where one cannot express the facts? Statement of fact is neither a " remark " , " neither a response" nor an "opinion" by any stretch of imagination!
Not so skilled in use of words, so please pardon!

I fully agree with opinion of Bhavsar and Samantha on the new software introduced in a haphazard manner.

What is wrong with introducing Beta version alongside the old version, to get feedback from users and for the users to perform under the old system when unable to perform under the new system without paying penalty for delay in filing Return. why Microsoft is resorting to such practice while introducing new software.

As stated above, in some columns data is prefilled and we are unable to correct it. As one puts it, the Date Of Birth in one case is filled with 12 digit numbers nothing near the date at all.  In one case I wrote to Infosys to explain andrectify  the error in the form, yet to get a response.

BSR code is 7 digit as per Bank receipt & 26 AS form but after , Error appears that BSR code to be 7 digit. Tried several times but error still persist.

ON -Line filling of ITR -3 still not available.

Form 10-IE still have problem ie Asessing office details do not pop up nor allow to enter manually , after validation msg appears that submission failed & NO RESPONSE FROM SERVER.

Meet Mr Nandan for quick redressal of your problem.Gift bouquet for making ITR filing easy.

It really reflects poorly on Infosys, the company which developed the new IT filing system. For system designers it is a lesson what SHOULD NOT BE DONE when you are writing specifications for a new system. There are no global rules for rounding, which means each coder will do what he/she feels like.

The portal has very poor ergonomics, if there multiple rows to be edited in a schedule, user has to select the row to be edited and then scroll to the top of the box the screen to click on edit. Then scroll back to the row, why is not the top bar in a fixed position.

The data is entered in rows, which are very long, and complete data is not visible at once. Which means if user has to refer to data in one of the previous columns he has to scroll back and forth.

There are some schedules in which the some check boxes are reset, whenever the schedule is opened for editing. It one is not careful and checks the right check box again, erroneous data will get captured or the system will force you to enter data irrelevant to you.

Though the system promises to the upload prefilled data from the form 26AS, but several data are incompletely captured from the form 26AS, particularly prepaid taxes data. Since the remaining data has to be manually entered, any mistake (typing error) could result in denial of tax credit. Ultimately, both user and tax department would waste time and resources in sorting out the issues.
