Maximum no of director

Actually U/s 252 of the Companies Act,1956 the maximum limit on no. of Directors is not specified. But the Articles of Association can specify the limit of maximum no. of Directors and AOA should not reduce the minimum limit (3 in public Co. & 2 in other co.)

Please also refer Sec 258 & 259 where appointment requires CG Permission, Special & Ordinary Resolution.

The maximum no. of directors that a company can have is 12. 

After that Central Govt. approval is reqd. Sec.259 (applivable to pub. co. & subsi of pub. co.)

No such restriction on Pvt. co. It has to follow its articles.
