Lost password for e-filling

go to incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

then go for log in

choose forgot password, then it will ask for pan, then put previous year acknowledgment no. and fill necessary details.

on correct information it will ask to put new password.

If you have lost your e-filing password and you have not filed any return till now, then you should adopt the following procedure :

Write a mail to ask @ incometaxindia.gov.in about you have lost your password,

write your Name, father's name, PAN no. and Date of Birth as on PAN Card in that mail.

They will surely to send you new password.

procedure of dimple is when u file online return first time,  other wise  the procedure sugested by amit jain is best.   i have already done it.

Please can somebody tell me about, how long does it normally take to retrieve the password if a mail is written to ask @ incometaxindia.gov.in? We have a new client who had filed last years return manually though he is registered on incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in, however he does not remember the secret question and also the email id which is registered with the department. So there is no question of reseting the password through the site as the relevant details are not available. A mail was written to ask @ incometaxindia.gov.in two days back, but no response is received as of now. Is there any other procedure or follow up that needs to be done? Please guide, thanks in advance.

 

Whatever procedures everybody has suggested are correct,but i hav a typical case, assessee has filed last retrn for f.y.09-10,hence details of earlier f.y,10-11 are not accepted,also the email id already registered is perhaps not being used ,how to reset password ??? if anyone can suggest that will b great

i know u are asking to reset ur clients password,just follow below procedure

send a mail to 

efiling.administrator @ incometaxindia.gov.in with following details

Full name:Check As per Form208(it pmt challan)

father name:

pan no.:

and say that ,u have tried forgoy password option also ,but im currently not using my registered e mail id with incometaxindiaefiling

then u will get ur pan no.as ur password

just login and change secret question,and email id registered from my account option.

just a hour ago i reset pasword like this procedure

agree with Mr. Ganeshbabu, alternatively you can write an email to validate @ incometaxindia.gov.in, giving the details such as

PAN:-
NAME:
ADDRESS:
DATE OF INCORPORATION/ BIRTH:
CONTACT NUMBER:
EMAIL:
REASON:

You will receive a new password within two days.

I GOT PASSWORD IN JUST 2HRS BY FOLLOWING THIS PROCEDURE,DEFINETLY WORKS
