Is migration compulsory under gst?

Dear Sir,
Whether migration under GST is compulsory? What if I want to discontinue the old business? What is procedure for the same?

Yes migration under GST is compulsory as GST is applicable and compulsory from 1 st july all over India.If you discontinue your business then you dont have to switch as you are not doing your business.

Yes I agree with Ms.Upasana Gupta but in addition if you want to discontinue your existing business then you must apply for cancellation of existing license.

But where to apply? Whether the same can be done under VAT department?

Yes you apply for cancellation of vat license with vat department.

If you have migrated to GST already, apply for cancellation under GST.
