Interest income postal saving schemes

Interest income and TDS details from postal saving schemes are still not showing in AIS of FY2025-26, so how to consider while filing return in July?

Quick Summary
Interest income from Post Office savings schemes may not immediately appear in AIS for FY2025-26. Taxpayers should rely on passbook records and self-calculation of term deposit interest while filing returns, and claim eligible deductions under Sections 80TTA or 80TTB.

Taxpayers must report interest income based on actual passbook entries even if the AIS is not updated. Ensure you claim applicable exemptions under Section 10(15) and deductions under Section 80TTA/80TTB to optimize the tax liability.

And for Term deposit interest of Post office, can we calculate our own and consider as no entry received in passbook?

That makes sense. But what happens if the department later updates AIS with a different figure?

We can report those inconsistancies / with the correct numbers in the AIS as well as a feedback.

Post office has issued a interest cum tds certificate and advised to show the figures mentioned only.

For TD and NSC data advised to show when interest credited in passbook.
