One of my friend takes home tutitions for junior school classes and have income of 1.5 Lac per annum (all in CASH)

Is it necessary for him to file Income tax return ?

If yes, which ITR form to be filled ?

it is not necessary to file ITR as his income is lower than maximum exemption limit ,which is Rs160000

One more question....If next year this income gets increase to 2.2 Lac per annumn

Can the preson claim deduction of 80C and still has to file return ?

Dear Ashok ji..

If the income increases to Rs. 2.2lacs then the person vl have to file ITR even if his/her income after deduction reduces below taxable limit....n ITR 4 vl be applicable...

Regards..

Neha

hey, why u want to show it.... think practically man... I will suggest you to file return from this time only....

Agree with CA Shivang....

File return from this year...but it is not compulsory as the income does not exceed basic exemption before 80 deduction...

nope dnt file return now....kyu abi se itna tension palne ka......

ITR return is to be filed when gross total income is more than exemption limit. It is advisable not to file return if income doesnt exceed exemption limit.

Moreover, in your case it seems you are considering gross receipt as taxable amount. But dear friend i would like to tell you that you can claim expenses in consideration to the income which you have earned as tution fees. This is only when Rs. 1.5 lac mentioned are gross receipts.

return shud b filled frm current yr onli... even though the income is below the basic exemption limit b4 deductions under chapter VI... but it also has over lapping future benefits... yeh tension paalne ka kaam nahi hai.. returns r for own gud..!!

Moreover practically IT department doesnt accept returns below exemption limit.

Dear Shudhanshu Agrawal....

I think they will accept the return eventhough it is below exemption limit.... No problem...

@ sudhanshu... who told they dunt accept returns wer income is below basic exemptions..?

Dear friends,

Can you tell me under which section a person having the income below maximum expemtion limit file his/her ITR???

sudhanshu,

forms r not divided as per the income earned.. but it is divided as per income sources... since tution fees is a profession, ITR 4 would b used... also check.. there is no requirement of minimum income criteria on any form..!!!!!
