You need rent agreement and duly stamped rent receipts.

Employees would now be required to furnish evidence of claims and tax saving investments to their employer in the newly prescribed Form 12BB.

For HRA claim:

Name, address and Permanent Account Number (PAN) of the landlord, where the aggregate rent paid during the previous year exceeds INR 1 lakh

The revenue stamp is not needed if you are paying rent via cheque.
