Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the applicability of GST on advance payments made to vendors for goods. While GST is generally applicable on advances for services, it is not typically applied to advances for goods until the actual supply takes place. The supplier of goods or services is responsible for paying the GST, not the payer, unless specific Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) provisions apply, which are more common for certain services and a few specific goods.

Yes GST is applicable on advance payment
if rate is not ascertainable at the time of advance payment, it should be 18%

Gstr1 deals with outward supply .so it will b used for advance rec'd only not advance paid.

Who will pay gst on advance, the receiver of advance or the giver of advance?. Because both can't pay the gst for same transaction. I have given an advance.
