The GST enrolment process closed with effect from May 1 and the data of all those signed the enrolment form would be migrated to the new GST system.

The portal displayed a statement saying that the enrolment window will reopen at a later date for taxpayers who could not enrol themselves as well as for those who enrolled but did not sign the enrolment form.

“The GST enrolment process on GSTN portal has been temporarily suspended and would begin in a few weeks,” the revenue department, which comes under the finance ministry, said in a tweet.

Replying on Finance Minister’s commitment of rolling out GST from July 1, government cannot afford any delay in restarting enrolment process.

GST enrolment window again open from 1 June for 15 days.

Dr. Hasmukh Adhia, Revenue Secretary, Government of India, expressed his satisfaction with the preparation for the rollout of Goods and Services Tax (GST) from 1st July, 2017. He was holding a detailed review of IT Preparedness for GST System at the Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) office in national capital yesterday.

The enrollment window will be reopened for 15 days from 1st June,2017 to give another opportunity to taxpayers to enroll.

As on 30th April 2017, when Phase 1 of enrollment was closed, 60.5 lakh taxpayers out of 84 lakh had enrolled.
