Due date of filing of returns extended

What could be the reason. There has already been extension for Uttarakhand.

What I feel the reasons might be out of the following :

1) This year there was a lot of problems faced with the TDS part due the mid-year transition from Tin-NSDL to tdscpc

2) The website is running very slow with over 85000 returns being filed every hour

Hope the ITR utility is also upgraded not to compute interest under section 234A accordinlgy for those who file after 31 July. Previous experiences do not confirm this. !!!

Also this extension should be kept in mind by tax payer at the time of assessment after 2 years.

The form usually has has the option of extended due date in the verification part. I am not aware of the new utility of the current year though.

This is a very good decision by CBDT to avoid last time rush... !
