DT:

I observed in SM + PM of DT that, there are some new chapters like: Foreign Collaborate, Business Restructure, Accounting and taxation. These chapters are not in the SUMMERY  MODULE of VINOD GUPTA. So please help me - how to cover them.

Also guide me the best approach to score good marks in this paper.

Anyone having CRUX of ASSESSMENT PROCEDURE - please mail me in my email: misspujasharma @ rediffmail.com

IDT:

I am still in confusion - which appraoch should be adopted for this paper so that i can score 60. It is so difficult to me to remember the PROCEDURAL CHAPTERS.

Please Help.

For procedural aspects need to go through it daily atleast for half an hour and prepere short notes emphasising crux of topic.

Am refering padhuka(G.Shekar)..if any of ur friends refering this book, take photocopy of these chapters.

For DT I would suggest you to do Prac Manual + Vinod Gupta Modules. Focus more on topics which are not a repetition of IPCC/PCC topics. Instead of making detailed notes you can use sticky notes to highlight the important points of the topic for easy understanding and reading before exams.

For IDT again opt for Prac Manual + Bangar. Focus on Numericals which fetch you a good 25 marks if done thoroughly. For the Procedural chapters if possible make tables for comparative study and ease to revise during exams. What changes in these chapters is just the sections and not the content.

a query

DT- i am reading from VG sir modules from last 2-3 attempts. but none of the time i was able to score more than 46-48 marks. what should b done in order to get more marks in direct taxes ?

IDT- same case with IDT. I am studying from DIPPAK GUPTa sir modules, book is excellent but at exam time i find it hard to revise...as the content seems enormous. i am not able to score more than 50 in idt too.. kindly advise any book for numerical portion in IDT ? and further this time syllabus weightage is changed so any strategy for that?

A VERY IMP QUESTION- ON CCI AND EVEN AMONG MY FRIENDS ALMOST 80-90% PPL ARE SUGGESTING FOR DT N IDT- READ FROM PM, RTP, AMENDMENT BOOKLET. THAT'S SUFFICIENT. I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW?? IN PRACTICE MANUAL...TOPICS ARE GIVEN IN QUSTION ANSWER FORM..INSTEAD OF ACT FORM IN TEXT BOOKS SUCH AS (BANGAR N DIPPAK GUPTA). HOW THE HELL PPL GAIN UNDERTSANDING OF PROVISONS READING FROM PM n RTP N ALL...?

P.S- that is a diff case ppl do gain numbers from above instead of ppl like me not able to score even after reading from full fledged text book.

@ abhishek.....u can opt for icai lms and study from institute study mat......

@ Abhishek-the point is ultimately people want to score so as to clear exams.Pm has weight age of min20 mks both in DT &Idt .Since I had made notes for imp provisions for exam time I used pm for revision after finishing notes.I score well by following this,so accordingly u can decide& I followed manoharan & bangar
For IDT refer CA Yashwant Mangal handbook along with supplementary study paper, case law of institute & practice manual

For idt - Plz refer class notes of Rajesh Tayal Sir. by refering you can easily get 75 + marks in idt.

for DT - Classs notes of VG Sir ( 2 Modules )

VG sirs class notes are hectic and Questions in Exams not based on these notes. ICAI  askes questions from PM/Supplymentary Papers. So, following the VG sirs' notes is backdated concept.

In my opinion , CA Rajkumar sir's class notes are best for idt...(ETEN CA), he uses small charts in almost every topic which makes the things very clear and easy to remember.... procedural chapters become very easy to remember.

Its my experience.smiley
