Hi,

Can anyone please let me know, whats the kind of credit we get for the CPA exam on account of being a CA. I heard that we are not required to appear for all the exams if you are a CA.

Are all of you who are appearing for CPA currently in US, as this exam can be given only within US. How hard is it compared to our CA exams?

Thanks

oh, i also want to know how the accounting salary of both compare.  if anyone has any info, please post it here (everyone probably wants to know this, too).  very important for all of us.  Thnks

May be of some use to all planning for CPA US

The steps for international students are as follows:

1) Get your academic credential evaluated by a USA evaluation agency like FACS: https://www.facsusa.com. Cost $100 - $250
2) Select your jurisdiction state for CPA exam based on the academic evaluation. Cost $250 approx.
3) Study for the CPA exam. Study materials and on-line guidance cost $999/-
4) Get your visitor visa. Cost $200 approx.
5) Travel to the USA for taking the CPA exam. Air Fare cost $1,300 approx., room & board $1,000 approx.
6)Take all the four sections of CPA exam. Cost $1,000 approx.
7) Pass all the four sections of CPA exam and be proud to be a CPA.
Total Cost : $5,000 approx.

There is no exemption of any kind for qualified CA. you have to pass all 4 papers.

Also note that you can prepare for the exam from India also. Only to write the exams you have to travell to US.

Also, CPA is not so hard as compared to CA

Before making any plans for CPA,

do make sure that you will get visa to give the exams

as...I know some students who completed thier coaching,

scheduled thier exam but the visa got rejected..so all the money, effort comes to zero

how long does it take to complete CPA and how many subjects are there ??

It takes about 6 - 12 months to become a CPA. There are 4 parts. Please visit www.cpachamps.com for details.
