Boss, over the recent years, Big 4 has started providing exposing articled trainees in a variety of areas provided that we show an aptitude of learning. Just a matter of discussing with the HR of Big 4 and getting things done.Exposed only to MS Office or Tally only in most cases in small firms. In Big four u can avail good amount of leave provided that u work for extra hours during regular days. Big 4 provides u the type of knowledge which will help u in industry if u are interested in joining industry after ur CA but small firms/ medium firms are not industry oriented mostly. If u are interested in specialisation in a particular area.i.e statutory audit or internal audit or bank audit or so and so, small firms will do good.
