Agree with Surbhi, Vinod Gupta Sir's book is best for self study for DT. His books comprises of 8 modules for different chapters and a summary module. It will obviously seem very vast when you read it first time. But trust me, his books are best for understanding. Every bare sections or provisions has been explained through the analysis of section and practical questions associated with the section. In the analysis of section, you will find the explanation to the section given by Sir in simple language which will make the provisions crystal clear to you. After some of the sections, sir has also given memorandum explaining the finance bill. This memorandum contains the reasons for the Amendments or the logic behind the said section. So all this will make it seem his books very vast but actually it is not so (Tough no one can deny the fact that DT is the most vast subject of CA Final). So many things have been given by Sir just to make the provisions very clear to the readers. After 1st time reading, for the purpose of exam you may ignore reading the memorandum and the bare sections. You may just read the analysis of the section for purpose of exam. Also While studying his main modules, i suggest you to also keep refering his summary module. You will find the summary module very very useful for revision during exam times. You will find that every topic has been summarised very beautifully in the summary module and thus making this never ending subject very managable to revise during exams. All this definately makes this book the best student friendly book for CA Final. Trust me the tough provisions of Direct Taxes cannot be made more simpler than what has been done by VG sir in his modules. Thats my honest review of the book. Also, I forgot to mention that Every chapter in his book is followed by solved Questions (as per the latest applicable amendments) from the past 20years (i.e 40 attempts). You may even solve these questions if you have sufficient time.
