what is the meaning of appointment date is GST nowadays everyone says about that

Now, GST has been implemented on 1st July, 2017..... but that date was earlier called as 'appointment date'

1st July is the appointed day earlier when the act and rules where formed the date of the implement of the gst was not certain and so it was called as appointed day
