80D deduction for senior citizens - medical bills

Hello,

Senior citizen and has medical insurance policy. Premium less than Rs.50000/-. Incurs expenditure on different tests and medicines regularly which will not be reimbursed by  insurance company. Can these bills be claimed for  section  80D benefit?

There can be deduction upto 50000 provided you hv the relevant bills.

Up to 5000 in preventive health care
Not 50,000 because you have taken the insurance policy.
