26as update after challan correction

Hello,

I had made a mistake in the assessment year while paying the tax online. I finally got the Challan corrected by my Assessing Officer at Bangalore more than two weeks back. Assessment year was changed from 2011-12 to 2012-13. I want to know how long does it take for the correction made to the Challan to reflect in my form 26AS? IT assessing officer confirmed that the correction/change is showing up in the IT database but my form 26AS does not reflect the change.

Also what is the recourse if form 26AS does not show the correction? Which database is used to match the tax details when I file the tax return?

Thank you.

The NSDL website will match your challan details as uploaded by the Corresponding Bank.

For the last quarter of 31.03.2012, the last date of filing TDS return is 15.05.2012.

Maybe the bank has not uploaded the details as of now.

Normally it takes around a week or two for updation. Wait for some more time. It will update automatically.

Prateek

In continuation of your query, kindly update with procedure for getting modificaions in 281 tax challans wherein minor head code was wrongly keyed in by banker

Assessing officer(TDS) is delaying the process due to volume of challans which need modifications.

Mr. Prateek Agarwal,

Please note that my original Challan was uploaded by the bank and it is still showing up on NSDL. After that I had the Challan correction made by my assessing officer and she confirms that the correction is made in the income tax database but it is not reflecting in my form 26AS. Now the bank is not in the picture anymore. I just want to know how long does it take for the Challan correction made by the assessing officer to reflect (show up) in the form 26AS? My end goal is to file my tax return and at that time I want to get the credit for the correct assessment year. Thanks.
