  • Rohit says : Section 50c of I Tax Act
Hello Sir, I have 1 question, In relation to Section 50C of the Income Tax Act, Deemed Value for Sales Consideration for land or building, Section suggests to have sales consideration to be consider as per “assessable value” or sales consideration whichever is higher. But in this scenario, what could be the Cost of acquisition, suppose it is short term asset, and say Sales Value as per assessable value is 6.5 lakhs and actual agreement value is say 3 lakhs, so assessee has to pay tax with considering sales value of 6.5 lakhs, now the cost of acquisition for the same as per agreement value was say 1.6 lakhs but the assessable value say 5 lakh at the time of purchase, so in this case, computation would be as follows, Under Section 50C, Full Value of Sales Consideration (being assessable value and not agreement value of Rs 3 Lacs) Rs. 6.5 Lakhs Less: Cost of acquisition (instead of 1.6 lacs agreement value) Rs. 5.0 Lakhs Short term capital Gain Rs. 1.5 Lakhs Just to know my understanding above is correct or not?
