SEBI is seeking public comments on a proposed framework for a Gold Exchange in India and draft SEBI (Vault Managers) Regulations, 2021.
SEBI will be the sole regulator for the proposed Gold Exchange in India, overseeing the entire ecosystem including vaulting, assaying, and quality and delivery standards.
The intent to establish a system of regulated gold exchanges was announced in the Government's budget speech for 2018-19.
The public consultation paper is open for comments until June 18, 2021.
