MCA Appoints Smt. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee as Chairperson of IEPF Authority, Announces Amendments to Annual Statement of Accounts Rules
In a significant development, the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) appointed Smt. Deepti Gaur Mukerjee as the new Chairperson of the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) through Notification No. S.O. 4333(E) dated October 03, 2024. Smt. Mukerjee’s appointment is in accordance with the provisions under Sections 125(5) and 125(6) of the Companies Act, 2013, along with relevant rules. This notification replaces the previous appointment order issued on May 5, 2016, and she will assume office upon taking charge.
Simultaneously, the MCA has notified the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (Form of Annual Statement of Accounts) Amendment Rules, 2024, through Notification No. G.S.R. 607(E). These amendments revise the procedure for filing annual statements of accounts, now requiring the signature of the chief executive officer instead of one member, enhancing the accountability framework. Both amendments took effect on their publication in the Official Gazette on October 03, 2024.
These updates mark important strides in the governance of IEPFA and corporate compliance, strengthening investor protection mechanisms.
