India's processed food products exports witnessed a growth of 26.51% in Rupee terms during April-February 2020-21 compared to the same period in the previous year.
The total value of processed food products exports was Rs. 43,798 crores during April-February 2020-21.
Value-added products like processed vegetables, alcoholic beverages, and milled products saw robust growth of over 40%. Miscellaneous processed items and pulses grew by 36% and 33% respectively, while oil meals rose by an impressive 96%.
Increased demand for pulses, processed fruits and vegetables, milled products, cereals preparations, and other processed items is particularly noted from the Middle East, Far East, USA, and UK markets.
APEDA has organised virtual buyer-seller meets, product promotion meetings, webinars, formed product-specific export promotion forums, facilitated market access, signed MoUs with stakeholders, and provided financial assistance for export promotion.
According to the Chairman of APEDA, Dr. M. Angamuthu, the trend of increasing exports of processed food products is likely to continue in the next financial year (2021-22).
