Key achievements include responding to pandemic challenges with technological advancements, opening over 30 new Chapters and Representative Offices, contributing Rs. 21 crore to PM CARES, launching initiatives for MSMEs and 'Make in India', successfully conducting Chartered Accountancy Examinations with digital evaluation, and enhancing regulatory mechanisms through digitisation.
The ICAI embraced technology to continue its services without interruption, offering virtual learning, CPE hours, and conducting its international conference virtually. They also successfully organised examinations in a staggered manner with enhanced safety measures and adopted a 100% digital evaluation mechanism.
The ICAI supported national initiatives such as 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India' by releasing an MSME rebooting checklist, launching a Mentorship Program, and establishing facilitation centres for GST & MSME. They also contributed to the PM CARES fund.
The ICAI advanced its regulatory mechanisms through the implementation of e-hearings for disciplinary cases, the launch of a separate portal for the disciplinary mechanism, and the approval of a revised Statement of Peer Review. They also augmented processes within the Financial Reporting Review Board and introduced a revised Code of Ethics.
The ICAI has increased its global presence, with its flag now standing high in 64 global cities across 43 countries. This expansion is seen as an opportunity to multiply opportunities and expand success as territories dissolve and the world becomes smaller.
The ICAI launched live virtual classes for students at no cost, considering the hardships faced during the pandemic. They also collaborated with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) to provide a platform for interaction with Vice-Chancellors and discuss new paradigms for the Indian education system and skilling for employability.
