The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has issued an important advisory for taxpayers encountering technical issues while filing GSTR-7 returns. Several users have reported receiving "System Failure" and "Schema Validation Failed" errors during the filing process.

1. System Failure Error on Invoice Count
Taxpayers facing a "System Failure" message while uploading invoices are advised to re-enter the same invoice details including the GSTIN, Invoice Number, and Invoice Date and then click on "Generate Summary" on their GSTR-7 dashboard before proceeding to file. This step ensures that the invoice data is correctly captured and validated by the system.

2. Schema Validation Failed Error While Uploading JSON
For taxpayers facing a "Schema Validation Failed" error when uploading JSON files generated through the offline utility tool, GSTN has clarified that its technical team is actively working to resolve the issue. Until the fix is deployed, taxpayers are advised to file their GSTR-7 return using online or API mode instead of the offline tool.
About GSTR-7
Form GSTR-7 is filed by entities responsible for deducting tax at source (TDS) under GST. It captures details of TDS deducted, the amount paid, and other related information. Timely filing of GSTR-7 ensures seamless credit flow to the deductee and compliance with statutory requirements.
Taxpayers are encouraged to stay updated through official channels and advisories issued by GSTN to avoid filing delays or errors.
