FAQ :
Companies whose financial year ended on 31st December 2019 are eligible for this extension, provided it's not their first financial year.
The new deadline for holding the AGM is 30th September 2020.
The extension is due to difficulties faced by companies in holding AGMs because of COVID-19 related social distancing norms and restrictions.
Under the Companies Act, 2013, a company can hold its AGM within six months (or nine months for the first AGM) from the closure of the financial year.
This circular was issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) of the Government of India.
