CRCL, located in New Delhi and operating under the Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs, is the headquarters for 14 Revenue Laboratories across India.
This recognition means CRCL will serve as a key customs laboratory for the World Customs Organisation (WCO) in the Asia-Pacific region, joining an elite group of similar facilities.
The MoU was signed virtually by Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, Secretary General of the WCO, and Mr. M. Ajit Kumar, Chairman of the CBIC.
CRCL has been extensively upgraded over the past three years, with approximately Rs. 80 crore invested in new, state-of-the-art equipment.
The introduction of instrument-based testing facilitates faster customs clearances without compromising law enforcement, thereby aiding trade facilitation.
CRCL joins other distinguished customs laboratories in the region, such as those in Japan and Korea.
