3.59 crore ITRs filed on the new e-filing portal of the IT Department

As of 15th December 2021, 3.59 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) have been filed on the new e-filing portal.

Infosys has augmented the technical infrastructure and set up a dedicated war room to monitor the portal's performance during peak filing periods.

ITR1 is the most common type, accounting for 57.6% of the 3.59 crore ITRs filed, which equates to 2.07 crore returns.

Out of the 3.59 crore ITRs filed, 3.11 crore have been e-verified, with over 2.69 crore using Aadhaar-based OTP.

The extended due date for filing Income Tax Returns is 31st December 2021.

Taxpayers should ensure that their bank account selected for refund credit has their PAN linked to avoid refund failures.
