Wrong quoted PAN in Challan 280

submit a prayer for rectification of PAN number to concerned ITO with copy of challan, he is authorized to admit the correction.

Only Assessing officer can make the correction.

There are three consequences--

1. The so quoted wrong PAN is an invalid PAN:

-- The concerned AO can correct it.

2. The so quoted wrong PAN is a valid PAN within the jurisdiction of the same AO:

-- The concerned AO can correct it.

3. The so quoted wrong PAN is a valid PAN within the jurisdiction of another AO:

-- The concerned AO can't correct it until some action is taken by the another AO.

Just check where does your problem falls among the above.
