House constructed over plot is given exemption under sec, 54, 54F, etc., because it comes under basic needs like Roti, Kapda. Makan of citizens; which Government has to provide. while many other assets not directly useful like Gold, Jewellery, plot/land etc, are used as investment i.e. to get capital gain and hence they are TAXED.
