Which assessment year applicable for c.a. final may, 2014

AY 14-15 in ur case.

As your attempt is in May 2014, the Finance Act 2013 (A.Y 2014-15) will apply in your case.

It may be better to pick the current ICAI Material (A.Y.2013-14) to familiarize with the syllabus. If you are able to get the Vinod gupta book from any of your friends, who clear May 2013 attempt that will be a real bonus.

Note that for May 2014 examination, the new books will likely be available in the last week of December 2013 or Jan 2014, so then you can plan to buy Vinod Gupta Book Assessment Year 2014-15.
