What's applicable for May '11 Final???

Dear friends,

In the Student's Journal issue of March 2011, the 'Announcement' with respect to 'Revision in Study Materials for Final Course' clearly mentions in the first paragraph itself that there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANGE in the syllabus of Final course EXCEPT exclusion of 'Inflation Accounting' in Paper 1:Financial Reporting and 'Time Series Analysis' and 'Test of Hypothesis' in Paper 5: Adv. Mgmnt. Accounting.

Then in the Annexure to this notification, they have given all the changes/revision that they have made in the JAN '11 edition of Modules. There are many changes made APART from the one the ICAI has mentioned in the 1st para. For example - in ISCA, Chapter 4 & 8 have been revised. Certain sections have been replaced in Chpt. 8.

Now I'm confused as to what's applicable and what's not, thanks to the mindlessness and unorganised way of working and presenting information of these ICAI officials.

Please clarify, if anybody can.

Wht u hv said is correct. Even iam a bit confused. However i hv downloaded a PDF file from ICAI website which contains the syllabus applicable for MAY 2011 xams....but the problem is none of my frnds hv yet confirmed this...however u can hv a glance.maybe it vil b of some help 2 u.....

Thanks a lot Ashish, but the PDF you have shared, I already had it, and I don't think its reliable because:

1) I'm not sure whether it really is an official announcement of the ICAI because it doesn't say so anywhere in the document. The ICAI doesn't release such notifications etc. without naming the institute specifically. Also, see the name "Jeemit" written at the end of the document? Why would an ICAI file contain such random names? Its most probably of the person who made that file - therefore, not reliable at all.

2) The Sarbanes-Oxley Act is NOT said to be deleted or not appplicable for the May '11 attempt in the ICAI's newsletter of March, whereas this PDF wrongly says it is deleted.

You see, there is a lot of ambiguity and confusion over what's there and what isn't. But what I think most likely is the case is that everything that was applicable to the last 'New Course' attempt in Nov '10 is also applicable to this attempt, whereas the revisions given in the Jan '11 Module and those mentioned in the Newsletter are applicable to who have just registered for CA Final after clearing their IPCC (and will be applicable to them whenever their attempt is due). This is just a guess!

Agree with Gurpreet. The above PDF file may be incorrect. Better confirm with ur friends before relying on the same coz i do have reasons now that  whatever contained in the file is not correct. Some of my friends have said that the information in the  PDF file is nowhere mentioned on the website.

I m also agree with the doubt crated by mr gurpreet, whether these changes will b applicable for May 2011 exams ?
