Waste of public money in parliament

others 1529 views 16 replies

As we all are aware that parliamentary sessions are facing frequent disruptions and forced adjournments of Parliament by the opposition which leads to fewer debates and discussions on vital issues. Due to this public exchequer is losing crores of rupees as each hour of functioning of the House costs Rs25 lakh.

This would mean a loss of Rs. 2 crore on a day when no business is transacted. If you add the number of days and hours wasted and the loss figures at the end of each session are huge.

As per my understanding, use of disruptions, adjournments and walk-outs by the opposition as a weapon to corner and criticizing the government against corruption and poor economic decisions is fine. But there should be a limit to such disruptions and forced adjournments for two reasons:

  1. First; continues disruptions and forced adjournments of parliament leads to wastage of public money in crores;

  1. Second; Lots of important discussions and economic decisions remain pending.

Friends what is your opinion in this behalf. Is this indeed a wastage of hard earned public money.

Thanks

Ankur

Yes it is very much wastage of public money.

But its not correct to blame the opposition totally.

If the opposition keeps silent then it will only encourage the govt in continuing the wrong activities.

Opposition is forced to disturb the house by the govt.

If disease comes then we spend some money to keep our body healthy and fit.

Similarly if the govt is actively involved in some wrong activities which are against the public interest, then the opposition informs the wrong doings of govt to people of india through the medium of their protest in the parliament and to carry out such protest ,measurable public money will get wasted.

You are absolutely right that it is somewhere the right of opposition to raise their voice against the wrong acts of ruling party.

But considering the continued disruption created by the opposition, it seems their intention is not bona fide and they are wasting the valuable time of parliament as lots of important agendas are pending approval from parliament. Kindly recall winter session of the Parliament was also washed out over coal gate scam.

No proceeding in the Parliament is actually in the favour of corrupt ruling Government.

Parliament people only do arguments nothing else .... they just accuse each other... totally waste of money & time.

M sharing with you some pics of parliament present scenario.

I like the above pic it defines everything.

Yes Dhara...this is really sad but a hard reality.no

It feels really bad when our hard earned money waste like this due to irresponsible behaviour of our politicians.frown

In a democratic country like India, the role, resposibilites and functions of parliament increses manifold. The role of opposition is as important as of the government. So just walking out on each and every issue is not a solution as these issues are very critical and requires proper debating.Therfore, I totally agree with you that the valuable time is being wasted as lots more agendas are pending approval in the parliament which is hurting the growth of our country.

Sir, this is a very pertinent question raised by you regarding the stalemate of the Budget session of Parliament. It is indeed a sad state of affairs in a democracy like ours, where each party tries to scuttle the voice of the others through frequent disruptions of both houses of Parliament.

The big Question as citizens of India we ought to ask the political establishment is how they can enter the temple of democracy with such wicked hearts. The ruling party’s brazenness and the opposition parties single agenda to disrupt the house to garner brownie points. Yes, they have legitimate right to voice their concerns of millions of people, but the question is - why at the expense of the taxpayer’s money?

When MP's salary hike bill is passed with more cheers and without objection, do these rulers have any concern for the common person’s plight that is dying day in day out in all walks of life, both physically and mentally.

Yes, we all know that the role of the opposition is to attack the ruling party when it is erring in discharge of its constitutional function.Today the situation is getting too bleak with each parties engaged in mudslinging. All of them are holding the country for ransom for their political survival and to latch on to the power by either hook or crook. They are nor really concerned about the welfare of the country and are indulging in murdering the sanctity of democracy.

Ya true I thought We should think Why this happen in our country.

India is very different country. Democracy is not proper in India. Democracy required quality of People at top management. India is Emotional from very beginig. Like Every one has same rights , rules , to join politics. Rules and regulations must be hard in this kind countries. Here people are only thinking and discussing the things no one is atleast try to Implement.

Specially Indian politics required High Education qualification , and proper Personality. To join politics person must clear Exams harder than CA and Medical doctors. as we all are saying CA has responsibilities of society regarding Accounting transperancy so It's required this kind of hard Examinations. Compair to this with politician...We are giving everything to them our Money , welth , Land , whatever you say everything is in the hands of them.

Now think what should be the Qualification of this kind of persons ? And what is in reality in our Incredable India ?

One more thing I would like to add that ,  common man must Interested in politics. Why only Big Peoples are joining ? I can't understand that. Here in india We common man never see what is going on...we just used to with conditions.Young generations Please join politics..and change everything.

Ankur sir you are requested to to post this kind of topics on ca club. We tried a lot but no one is responding here. By your Big Name every one will motivate and discuss on verious topics. Thnaks  a lot for sharing and posting on Politics. it's favourit subject.

It seems continuous disruption of Parliamentary proceedings is an attempt to cash the situation/wave created against the ruling party considering Election 2014.

According to me instead of creating blockage in Parliamentary proceedings, opposition should come forward and catch the guilty politician through genuine and fact based debate. There should be a kind of face off in the Parliament. It is really sad that lots of important decisions got delayed due to this uncontrolled dead lock in Parliament.

Dear Bhargav you have rightly quoted that we need more responsible and educated politicians who can raise their voice for public related issues.

I am glad to see the response of few responsible members. Thanks All

we cannot do any thing

who is feeling responsibility and who wants to give benifit to society..lot of scams..

somany scams

No one bothers about india n economy and its future..

no devolopment

in andhra there is scheme named "aarogyasri", it is nothing but providing free medical services from corporate hospitals to weaker section?

What our govt want to say with this,..it is nothing but simply feeding corporates,

Why they are not thinking to develop government hospitals in corporate standards..

how many years you will pay to corporate hospitals

how they will get money to repay back to corporates back..in long run it is not practicable.

It is very important to devolope governments hospitals instead of providing free education in corporate hospitals..

Sir, we all are aware of these Scams and Corruption Issues but the ultimate question arises what we have done or doing on our part. Informing to other does't suffice the purpose.

We all belong to a young brigade and interestingly , India is the only country which has the highest young population as compare to the rest of the world, but we are facing the issues on corruption rigourously.

So get out of your airconditioned room and do something for the country.

It is a fact that there is some problem with election of right candidate by the public. But I am very hopeful that in 2014 elections voters would use their best sense of election and choose right candidate for the betterment of country.

Indeed list of scams is growing like anything under the rule of Congress led UPA.

Dear Ankur,

Scams may be growing in congress led UPA government but NDA isn't  exactly flawless either and Karnataka polls have certainely proved that. They should learn from this deeat and have to sort out their internal issues rather very quickly if they wants to win upcoming Lok Sabha elections otherwise they will find themselves in similar sort of situation.I think the phrase "United we stand, divided we fall" is best suited on them.

karnataka poll result was expected one.

karnataka People wanted change in power in their state.

But the people of india want a change in power at the centre.

So the BJP's chance to win the central election is very bright.

No one can stop that.
