Value and condition of a fresh ca

I am a newly qualified Chartered Accountant who cleared all the levels of chartered accountancy in the very first attempt. I am proud to be a Chartered Accountant and I adore my institute very much BUT I would like to bring to your notice some of the astonishing facts which are prevalent in the minds of many of the fresher CAs. When I chose my career the only thing in my mind was to be a unique personality which will be respected in the every corner of the society and after considering numerous options available before me I chose to be a CA!!! I used to see many of my seniors who after becoming CA either got placed in some of the multinationals or starting their own practice and that was again the source of inspiration for a beginner like me. I was so much enthralled by this noble career that I devoted myself to be a part of it. But today when I have actually become a part of it I am experiencing altogether different scenario. When a fresh chartered accountant wants to pursue his career in one of the Big 4 he needs a strong reference without which his entry to the corporate world is just next to impossible. Many fresher CAs still want to start their own practice and for that, initially to get good level of exposure, they prefer to work with some of the big or mid-sized chartered accountant firms, entry to which is obviously restricted to those who have a strong reference. Many deserving candidates dont get the desired opportunity. Even candidates who prefer to go for jobs in industry are also experiencing a severe difficulty in getting the job with the desired profile with a decent package. Campus placement programs are as good as nothing because corporate companies are not willing to hire any fresh CA through these programs. I am well aware of the fact that there is always a ray of hope and so just trying to throw some light upon the current situation of the Chartered Accountants and expecting a positive and vibrant response from the veterans of our Institute which will restore repute of the Institute to build some confidence among the newly qualified chartered accountants like me. It is pertinent to note that many people still dream to be a successful chartered accountant and for that reason these facts would be worth to be considered.

Guys its pretty accepted over here that market is not that green vis-a-vis job now a days, but what we all need is a start, ts not very necessary that the start that I am talking about has to be a jumpstart kind of thing, agreed that for Big 4s we need some references n all but I have seen cases where my fellow CAs gotplaced at Big4s without reference but on basis of their experience. So even if u r not getting a call from your desired firms n all, start from a medium sized one becase as in case of Mr. Ram who is not having a job since Jan 12, dude u r wasting ur possible experience. Starting atleast coz something IS better than nothing and then on the basis of experience on your account go for some big daddies. Or if u r having some time go for some SAP or IFRS courses. All the best :-)

Earlier result used to be less then 3 % . Now it almost 25%. So the For every interview for one post u will see 25 canditate. I cleared in Nov 2010. but could not get job for 6 months. So i applied in remote areas and go job .  Please consider working in remote ares or working on assigment or work as executive level till you get the Good Job.

Agree with each word of above peice. The exposure issue has also affected the non qualified CA articles as none of the reputed firms accept IPCC merit ranker on not having referencesno

where is this profession heading???????????? im from kerala and iam seeing many ca passouts sitting in hme widout wrk.. over the last few attempts i witnessed a lot of passouts.. many people who were struggling for years to pass ca are now passing ca easily... ICAI IS DOING NOTHING TO PROTECT THE PASSOUTS.. THEY JUST WANNA ATTRACT MORE STUDENTS AND THERE BY INCREASE THEIR REVENUE...

THE FOOLISH PRESIDENT SHOULD BRING OUT SOME PRCTICAL STEPS TO REDUCE THE RESULTS

LIKE

1) INCREASE THE AGGREGATE TO PASS TO 55 %

2)REMOVE CHOICES IN QUESTION PAPERS, MAKE ALL QUESTONS COMPULSORY

3) TEST MORE PRACTICAL AND TOUGH QUESTIONS

Our Institute had  become the property of some blody money maker.....they have no matter of reputation of our profession ......... they are only concentrated for making money

Agree!

Now CA degree has become normal B.Com course.

Many ca 's are unemployed / underemployed!

And to add salt to that pain , institute is looting money (Rs. 1000) in the name of campus placement programme, where only less than 10% of CA will get job, rest will be kicked out!

@ Teena

consider this: The insitute expects a certain standard. When the competition gets tougher naturally the percentage of people putting extra effort and passing out will go up.

When there are more numbers, those who are best on the list will get jobs. Does anybody you know who scored well is sitting at home? adapt yourself to the changing situation. Instead of whining/mud slinging do something to improve your situation. if you want jobs score well and see.

and if the ones who have been struggling are now passing out "easily" could be because they have reached the necessary threshold.

Do you think Exams were easy this time? it was like  do more for less marks. It was a race against time in some most of the papers.

I agree with Akshay about the job scenario. But remember it was always abt survival of the fittest. (ok some odd ones will take shortcuts). earlier just passing CA was ok. But not anymore. you have to stand out among the passouts

Guys guys we need to chill, this definately is the fact of profession that from 2-3% some years back now we r withnessing some 25-30% passout. In last attempt's campus at Pune, 900 students registered and against those 900 students 80 vacancies were offered. But guys as again I am still stressing abt having a start atleast, you may not get a dream start but this start may take you toward ur dreams. So havea matured approach, we r professionals here, cursing insti in this forum wont help, may be we should mend our approash.... :-)

The attempts should be after 9 months or 1 in a year

This will help in maintaining value of the profession & will also remove the oversupply of CA's
