hi I am a seafarer sailing onboard foreign vessels. I want to know whether I am an nri or NRE and when I am not onboard I stay in India.
1)I want to know what are the rules and regulations applicable for me
2) what kind of taxes are applicable if I am doing investing, trading, or investing in mutual funds
3) I want to know what all exemptions I am applicable for in income tax
4)Do I need to file ITR if I am sailing and in case I am not sailing in financial year.
5) bank interest, FD,ppfs, savings scheme's etc are applicable for me or not.

Refer section 6 of the Income Tax Act, 1961. This section contain detail provisions in the regard. You should be able to know answer of your each question.
