Anyone have idea what can be the reason of incomplete data migration when we migrate Tally prime data from tally ERP?

Since Tally Prime migration from Tally.ERP 9 can sometimes fail or result in incomplete data, here are the standard troubleshooting steps generally recommended for this process:

  • Check Tally Data Path: Ensure that the data folder is not located in a deeply nested directory or on a network drive. Copy the data locally to your system (e.g., C:\TallyData) and try migrating from there.

  • Validate Data Integrity: Use the Rewrite function in Tally.ERP 9 before attempting the migration. Press Ctrl + Alt + R on the Gateway of Tally in the old version to ensure there are no internal database errors.

  • Permissions: Ensure you are running Tally Prime with Administrator privileges to avoid permission conflicts when the software tries to write or create new data files.

  • Versioning/Release: Ensure you are using the latest release of Tally Prime. Sometimes, bugs in earlier releases of Prime were fixed in subsequent updates.

  • Folder Permissions: Verify that the folder where the data resides is not "Read-Only."

Summary

To resolve incomplete data migration from Tally.ERP 9 to Tally Prime, first perform a "Rewrite" of your existing data in Tally.ERP 9 (Ctrl + Alt + R), ensure you are running Tally Prime as an Administrator, and move your data to a simple local directory path before attempting the migration again.
