Stock market for beginners?

When i say beginners, i mean absolute novice. I've always thought the idea of being involved in the stock market was interesting.. nothing major, just investing some money here and there to see what happens.

The problem is that i have no idea where to start.

Can anyone recommend somewhere for me to start learning, then how to progress to actually trading? E.g. a link to a certain website, a book or maybe information you can give me yourself?

so u want to go for stock trading na.. or just want bookish knowledge...

you need to have demat account to start dealing in equity markets

For opening demat account you need to go to a consulting firm or trading firms like Share khan, Angel broking etc etc...

They wil open a demat account there and wil provide u trading details...

Then u can start trading in such... Anymore querries can b asked here ??

Before visiting broker office, don't forget to keep 6 pp size photos, 1 ID proof, address proof, bank pass book, mainly Pan card, cheque leaf. Copies along with originals and an amount of less than 1 thousand rupees.

You can also ask them for online user I'd and PW for entering into transaction ,when ur account open. Also discuss with the broker about the margin require to be maintained.

You can learn the fundamentals easily-buy a beginners guide. But the tricky bit is understanding why stocks move, up or down. Maybe it is a question if understanding/interpreting news flow. A news item may say a stock is marvellous and a raging buy. But you may read the blog and article and come to the conclusion that it is a sell! You have to think for yourself and make your own judgements.
