Can a Power of attorney of a shareholder give the consent for shorter notice under section 171 of the Companies act, 1956 for an EGM.

Generally yes... and please note...
further power can not be delagated by POA...for e.g if A has given POA in favour of B, then B can not further delegate its power under POA.

Hi jaideep,
Can u help me out with the relevant provision of the Act, as section 171 is silient and 187 is not applicable as it relates to representation of corporations.

In my opinion ,
as such Companies Act is not having any provision, 187 is not applicable here.
you can proceed after taking consent on form 22A [pursuant to section 171(2)]
