We are co-operative society. we have taken on hire some cold atorages for storing butter and other food products.
These cold storages are taken on hire from indivisual and some pvt ltd.
Is service tax Applicable on rent paid for cold storages?
Are there any concerned provision for the same?
Yes it wouldbe liable. In the negativelist - storage of agriculturalproduce is listed which wouldmean primary products like milk, rice wheat, cashewnut ....

In my opinion ST is payable. the renting of Imm property i.e. cold storage is a service in terms of circular Circular No 98/1/2008-ST dated 04/01/2008 issued by CBEC.
i want to know which taxes are applicable on cold storage for prop.firm?
