pls tell me the procedure of issuing road permit in punjab. what are the formalities, forms, charges regarding the same.

Necessity for permits

No owner of a motor vehicle shall use or permit the use of the vehicle as transport vehicle in any public place unless he obtains a permit from Regional / State Transport Authority for the purpose.

 

 

Procedure in applying for permits

An application for the following kinds of permit can be made at any time in the office of Secretary Regional Transport authority Patiala, Jalandhar, Ferozepur and Faridkot at Bhatinda:-

  • Stage carriage permit for mini buses on a route upto 25 kms. or within the city, town or municipality.
  • Stage carriage permit for maxi cab within city, town or municipality.
  • Contract carriage permit for three wheeler passenger (7 seater) vehicle on a route upto 16 kms.

An application for the following kinds of permit can be made at any time in the office concerned District Transport Officer:-

  • Contract carriage permit for motor cab within Punjab state.
  • Contract carriage permit for maxi cab within Punjab state.
  • Contract carriage permit for three wheeler passenger (5 & 3 seater) vehicle to operate within a municipal limit.
  • Private Service Vehicle permit.
  • Goods carriage permits:-
    • for higher or rewards.
    • for the carriage of goods, for or in connection with a trade or business carried on by the applicant.
  • National permit in respect of goods carriage valid for the whole India or in such contiguous states not being less than four.

An application for the following kinds of permit can be made at any time in the office of State Transport Authority:-

  • Tourist permit for motor cab valid for whole India or for such contiguous states not less than 3.
  • Tourist permit for maxi cab valid for whole India or for such contiguous states not less than 3.
  • Tourist permit for buses valid for whole India or for such contiguous states not less than 3.
Stage carriage permits for big buses are granted in accordance with the Transport Scheme dated 09.08.90 and modified on 21.10.1997 formulated by the State Government. An application for stage carriage permit in respect of big bus shall be made within such time as may be indicated in the notice inviting applications

Validity of permits

A permit other than temporary / special permit shall be affective for a period of 5 yrs.

 

Renewal of permits

A permit may be renewed for a period of 5 years on an application made along with fee as per above details not less than 15 days from the date of expiry of the permit.

Thank sir... We are in rajasthan and sending our goods to punjab, than we have to submit our application in punjab to state transport authority. Is there online method to submit the same ??

Hey i didnt understand that ... if u are a seller  in rajasthan selling good to punjab.,,, i think a vat form issued by vat department will b enough to transport the goods to punjab known as road permit...

 

for purchasing goods from outside we usually give vat 47 in rajshtn

for selling m not sure bt may b its vat 48

 

so now from where punjab authority came here... if there is any form in punjab for purchasing goods outside the state.. that should b given to you by the purchasing party na...
