if a person file his return of income for the year 2008-09 and he lost his copy of return on which receipt is made by income tax deptt. then how can he retrieve the copy of the same without going to deptt. is there any site of income tax deptt from which this can be retrived? if he approach the deptt what is the procedure to get the same? thnks in advance

Two options:
1)Either approach the concerned ITO and give him a requisition for providing a copy of the Return filed.
2) Directly approach the clerk in charge of the concerned ITO and get the job done without any official correspondence.
Copy of the return can be retrieved from incometaxefiling.gov.in site; provided he has e-filed the return and not if he has submitted it only manually.
