I am a karta of a HUF, which is supposed to inherit residential property from my Uncle.
Currently, I am paying rent to my uncle, who is current owner of the property and availing tax break on my salary income.
Post transfer of property to the HUF, Can I continue to pay rent to HUF from my salary income and continue to get Tax exemption.
Yes you can avail the benefit of the rent paid. Even if there is change in ownership of the property, there is no change in the nature of payment i.e. Rent.
So you can avil the benefit.
