I completed first year of articleship. My principal did not allow me to do Regular Bcom. I applied Bcom degree through distance mode from Andhra University. Does distance degree have equal worth as regular degree? Can distance degree be useful when applying jobs in banking sector, or applying in foreign universities?

i want to complete basic graduation degree since CA is professional degree. My friends are advicing not to do distance degree, as it is of no us and Instead of spending time for preparing and writing exams, they are asking me to allot the same time for preparing C.A Final. I am a bit confused. Does distance degree add value for my resume in future? Or its time waste. Please help me.

Thank you

Hi lavanya.degree is not a big thing in ca.I mean to say that, distance is not much necessary..I suggest u to go for regular one,and spend the same tym for ca.

HI lavanya

for foreign education i.e. mba we need 16 years of education to be eligible.so if you intend to do foreign mba you need interpass+3yrs regular bcom+2yrs mcom.

distance bcom is not counted.therefore if you do distance bcom your total education is 12yrs only.ca is not counted for foreign mba.

however if you do not have intention to do foreign mba then i advice you to do distance bcom because for getting job in india ca with distance bcom is sufficient.

Distance bcom is sufficient for all govenment exams i.e. from bank exams to civil services

now decide for yourself

Go for regular better change college n I don't think so it vil b problem for u after second year
I also have the same problem i did not yet started my degree nd and i am appearing for ca final in nov 2015

I do not have a chance to shift to regular Bcom. If i have to change 1.5year will be wasted. I think i must continue distance BCOM.

Degree does not matter...jz make sure u get 60% OR ABOVE  as aggregate after 3 yrs of distance education...

Then u can write bank exam/UPSC or even try IIM-MBA(after passing CAT)

Please do not neglect your degree, try to complete it and secure first class,at least you will have a requisite qualification for appearing in competitive exams, whether the degree is through a college or distance education you will still be considered as a graduate,so please don't listen to anybody try  and complete it,simultaneously you can pursue ca as well,if u have luck you might clear your ca exams as well.

Go for distance rather than waiting for 1.5 yrs.

wait is not worthy enough. Agree with Varun's reply. Score High  !

Hello friend,
It entirely depends upon the individual. Weather you want to go for regular classes or you want to go for distance education. As far as betterment is concerned regular classes are always more appropriate and effective. The one having done bachelors degree regular will always hold the upper hand. Reason is simple, as you go for regular classes you attend lectures of professors, the experience they share becomes very valuable. Also you are more discipline in your studies. And the most important factor is the regular degree course will fetch you more opportunity compared to distance course.
Distance education have their advantages too, as everyone is not available for regular classes because of their different commitments. So if you can become your own master and be committed and discipline you can go for it as well.Their are lot of recognized university which offers quality distance course.

thanks
