Regarding STCG on Equity

589 views 4 replies

My daughter became a major a few months back. Now she has started trading equity on a delivery basis and has only income under short‑term capital gain of ₹43,000, on which she will be liable to pay tax or it will be adjusted against rebate.

Please advise, and also let me know up to which amount she is not liable if she is having only short-term capital gain income from equity.

Thanks

Quick Summary
Query is whether a newly major daughter earning only Rs 43,000 short-term capital gains (STCG) from equity trading is taxable. Discussion includes taxability under old vs new regime, rebate applicability, and whether any minimum exemption applies. Also notes STCG is taxable even if it is the only income.

Under New regime - Entire STCG is taxable

under Old regime - STCG is not taxable if total income is upto 5 lakhs

STCG @ 20%

Thankyou

73000. -it is not taxable at all.

New regime old regime neither of them .

Advisable to file itr under new regim.....so in future if any loss....then can be c/f
